We are a hobbyist beekeepers club based in Hamilton, New Zealand.
The Waikato Domestic Beekeepers Association is made up of a diverse range of people in the Waikato region who are interested in all aspects of beekeeping.

Monthly meetings are held for members to exchange ideas and learn from a variety of speakers.
Other activities, including field days, are held to assist members learn more about beekeeping and the successful management of their hives. In addition, a monthly newsletter keeps everyone up-to-date.
The club welcomes new members, young and old, those new to beekeeping, or experienced hands.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CERTAIN BEEKEEPERS
Notice from the American Foulbrood National Pest Management Plan
If you do not hold a Disease Elimination Conformity Agreement (DECA) this notice applies to you.
You are required by law to have your hives inspected by an approved beekeeper by on or before 30 November 2013.
Clause 32 Biosecurity (National American Foulbrood Pest Management Strategy) Order 1998
Failure to comply will result in:
- The Management Agency arranging for your hives to be inspected by an Authorised Person Level 2 (AP2) under the Biosecurity Act 1993.
- Your details will be forwarded to MAF Biosecurity.
- The Management Agency considering undertaking a prosecution under section 154 (q) of the Biosecurity Act 1993.
To become approved a beekeeper must pass a competency test in American Foulbrood recognition and control and have a Disease Elimination Conformity Agreement (DECA) approved by AsureQuality Limited.
